Wedding Location
Quinta do Avesso
Rua 25 de Abril 504, 4485-304 Labruge, Portugal
Never too far from the ocean. Just a stone’s throw from the beach, the venue is a beautifully restored traditional property, with exactly the rustic, intimate feel we were looking for. With its beautiful architecture and fresh ocean breeze, it has such a special, relaxed feel, the right mood for our celebration! And if you know us, you know good food is a must! Our catering will be led by Chef Vanessa Silva and her team, who put a modern twist on Portuguese classics while bringing in amazing international flavors. Come hungry!

Travel
Discover Porto
Bem vindos à Invicta! If you have some extra time before or after the wedding, Porto is definitely worth exploring! Here are our recommendations for 2 days in Porto, plus a few day-trip ideas.
2 Days in Porto
Day 1: Historic Porto & Ribeira — São Bento Railway Station, Porto Cathedral, Igreja dos Clérigos and the Clérigos Tower, Livraria Lello (book in advance), Rua das Flores, Ribeira, Dom Luís I Bridge, Vila Nova de Gaia, a port wine tasting (Graham’s / Casa Ferreirinha / Sandeman). Don’t miss sunset from Jardim do Morro or the Serra do Pilar viewpoint, and finish the day with a francesinha. Day 2: Markets & Seaside — Confeitaria Bem Bom for breakfast, Mercado do Bolhão, Rua de Santa Catarina, Capela das Almas, a pastel de nata at Manteigaria, Matosinhos for beach time, fresh fish, and surfing (Surfaventura school), sunset on the beach.
Day Trips
Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal — a colourful coastal city about an hour from Porto, known for its canals, traditional moliceiro boats and Art Nouveau architecture. Easy day trip by train. Combine with Costa Nova by car for its colourful striped houses and long sandy beach. Douro Valley — famous for vineyards, spectacular landscapes and Port wine production. Best explored by car, or via organised day tours from Porto. If you have the time, spend one night in the Douro Valley instead of just a day trip. Good base areas: Pinhão, Peso da Régua, Lamego. You could also visit: Palácio da Bolsa, Miradouro da Vitória, Foz do Douro. If you have more time: Parque Nacional Peneda Gerês, Braga and/or Guimarães, Coimbra.
Where to Eat
Taberna dos Mercadores, Taberna de Santo António, Casa Guedes, Gazela, Brasão Coliseu, Terminal 4450, Eskina, Sushiaria. Vegetarian: Fava Tonka, Espécie, Jardineiro. Food halls: Mercado Bom Sucesso, Time Out Market Porto. Pastel de Nata: Manteigaria, Castro, Fábrica da Nata. Bars: 6 PONTE Sky Bar, Bosco Porto, Base Porto. The Porto Dictionary
A few words you’ll want to know before arriving in Porto: Café = Espresso. Pingo = Cortado. Abatanado = Café crème / lungo. Meia de leite = large coffee with milk. Torrada = buttered toast. Francesinha = Porto’s legendary sandwich, go hungry! Bifana = pork sandwich. Prego = steak sandwich. Fino = 20cl draught beer. Super Bock = the beer of Porto. Obrigado/Obrigada = thank you. Tip: carry some cash for small cafés. Don’t rush your coffee. Don’t rush your food. And definitely don’t rush your beer. In Porto, meals are meant to be enjoyed slowly, preferably with good company.
